La région

In the heart of the Cathar country, not far from the Mediterranean Sea, the mountains of the Pyrenees and the Black Mountain, you will discover a city where history abounds: Carcassonne.

Established over 2000 years ago, it is one of France’s great monumental wonders and one of the most fabulous site preserved by the Middle Ages.

The City of Carcassonne, classified in the UNESCO World Heritage, is inseparable from the many abbeys (Saint-Hilaire, Lagrasse, Fontfroide, Saint-Polycarpe …) and Cathar Castles (Quéribus, Peyrepertuse, the Four Lastours Castles…) which surround it. Close by you will discover also Rennes le Château and the history of its famous mysterious treasure maintained throughout its life by Abbot Saunière.
